HWS began in 1985 with 39 musicians. The nucleus of the band came from the Fairleigh Dickinson University band. It was the only time there were high school students in the wind symphony.
There are currently 7 founding members playing in the band today.
There weren’t any percussionists in our first concert on December 8, 1985!
Our first guest soloist was pianist Anita Gordon of Whippany, NJ.
Youngest guest soloist? Justin Masi,Trombone, Age 7!
Love is in the air: So far there have been 8 couples who met and married while playing in HWS.
