Summer Music Camp Scholarship

About the Scholarship

The Hanover Wind Symphony is proud to announce our 2018 summer music scholarship! The scholarship is intend-ed to support the attendance of a summer music program for students with a passion for their instrument. The scholarship will be available to students who are presently in grades 8-11 who reside in New Jersey. Awards will be based upon a recommendation from their music educator (either public or private), an interview, and an audi-tion. The scholarship will provide an amount sufficient to cover tuition of a high caliber summer music camp with a quality music faculty for a minimum of one week.

The recipient of the scholarship will also perform with the Hanover Wind Symphony on a Fall concert program.

About the Hanover Wind Symphony

One of only a handful of outstanding community-based adult wind bands in New Jersey, the renowned Hanover Wind Sympho-ny (HWS) is a prime example of the power of music and its influence on our lives. The symphonic band, made up exclusively of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, embraces its mission of bringing Music to People and People to Music. Its mem-bers, though expert in talent, come from all ranks of professions, both inside and outside of music, who desire both an outlet for their creative talents and an opportunity to refine their musical skills. The HWS is diverse in its background, yet singular in its pursuit of musical excellence.

As a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, the HWS has played to enthusiastic audiences in and around greater Morris County for over a quarter-century. The volunteer musicians are committed to advancing excellence in the wind band tradition.

HWS members are your neighbors, sharing their passion for music with Community Outreach Programs that include: free and affordable local concerts, joint programs with public schools, collaboration with local nonprofits, programs for children and families, world-class soloists, outdoor concerts.
